Liev To Introduce 1st Of 4 In Jewish Film Series

Liev Schreiber will kick off a new Jewish Film Series, “Encounters with Jewish Cinema,” at the JCC of Mid-Westchester on Thursday, May 26, 7:00pm, with the screening of Everything is Illuminated. The screening will be followed by a post-screening Q&A with Screenwriter/Director Liev Schreiber and Film Scholar-in-Residence Eric Goldman. Series Patrons will also be able to attend a private reception with Liev Schreiber following the program.


This program is the first in a series of four film programs running through June 2011. Each film program will be introduced and moderated by Dr. Goldman, adjunct associate professor of film studies at Yeshiva University. Dr. Goldman is a noted film historian and is film critic for NJ’s “The Jewish Standard.” He received a Ph.D. in Cinema Studies from New York University and was a fellow of the Max Weinreich Center for Eastern European Jewish Studies at Columbia University.


All four films will be shown at the JCC of Mid-Westchester’s Bendheim Performing Arts Center, 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale.  Tickets to Everything is Illuminated are $15 general admission/$12 seniors and may be purchased online at www.thebendheim.org or by calling the box office at 914-472-3300, x403.
