A View from the Bridge is a play by American playwright Arthur Miller first staged on 29 September 1955 as a one-act verse drama with A Memory of Two Mondays at the Coronet Theatre on Broadway. The two-act version frequently produced today appeared a year later, in 1956. It is set in 1930s America, in an Italian American neighborhood near the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. It has striking similarities with Greek tragedy, being linear and having a chorus, or narrator (Alfieri). Eddie, the tragic protagonist, has a fatal flaw (his improper love of, and almost obsession with, Catherine), and the final, dramatic climax is another feature of this style.

Liev played Eddie, and was nominated for a Tony Award in June 2010.

Let us all bow down to the god of acting, Liev.

Liev proved that his Tony win wasn't a fluke by this second nomination. It's weird that he's pitted against his TMC co-star Denzel Washington. But 'Fences', Denzel and Viola Davis (lead actress for 'Fences') were unstoppable that year. It just wasn't his time to win. :-(

He needs a lead Tony! ASDFGHJKLAKJDKJDFHJHFUEFHNMFN.

The only thing that annoyed me about his nomination, was that Scarlett won one... Liev can act circles around her!!!

Scarlett was in Featured Actress. The competition is less tight than in lead actor. If she was pushed for lead, there was no way she could beat the acting goddess, Viola Davis.

In lead actor, you have five Hollywood greats, two of which are Oscar winners, one Oscar nominee and two are overdue for a nomination. How's that for a tight race. And since Liev already has a Tony, voters didn't feel that he 'needed' it, so they gave it to someone else.

Besides, the producer of 'Fences', Scott Rudin, is a hardcore campaigner. He can push his productions to awards glory any day.
