Liev Schreiber stars as the titular character in Showtime’s newest original drama Ray Donovan, playing a fixer for the Hollywood elite forced to juggle his demanding (and often violent) job as he navigates the land mines that exist within his own family.
When his father, Mickey (Jon Voight), is unexpectedly released from prison, Ray’s life becomes even more complicated as he has to confront the “intense hatred and anger at his father,” Schreiber says in an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the freshman drama.
To hear co-star Katherine Moennig tell it, the series shines a light on the “underbelly of the business of high-power situations that not everyone has access to.”
Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Katherine Moennig and Pooch Hall co-star in the drama, which premieres June 30 at 10 p.m. on Showtime, following the return of Dexter.

Liev Schreiber is set to host Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival, when it returns to New York City this summer. The event will be held June 22 at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park.
Tropfest began 21 years ago in Sydney, Australia, and now attracts more than 150,000 people annually. It has since expanded into a worldwide event with screenings held in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. Last year’s debut U.S. event brought more than 10,000 film fans to New York’s Bryant Park.
The move to Brooklyn will allow for an expanded festival that, in addition to a lineup of top-notch short films, will feature music, food, and art installations.
“Tropfest New York is an incredible opportunity for emerging filmmakers to have their work seen by a huge audience, along with a judging panel that shares their passion for film,” Schreiber said. “I’m very pleased to host this year’s New York event, and to be part of bringing Tropfest across the bridge to Brooklyn.”
Many of Australia’s most notable actors act as industry ambassadors for the festival, including Schreiber, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Anthony LaPaglia, Charles Randolph, and Geoffrey Rush.

And heaven in a wild flower.
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.'

Sonnet No. 130
My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damask'd, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks:
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go,
My mistress when she walks treads on the ground.
And yet by heaven I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.
